However, it is very alarming to note that our persistent exposure to cell phone radiation could lead to serious health problems. This is true even if the specific absorption rate or SAR rating of our cell phones has been lowered considerably during its manufacture. SAR is the measured amount of energy from radio frequency that is taken in by the body through the use of cellular phones. There have been studies that SAR rating has effects that include decrease in immunity level, breakdown of the blood barrier in the brain and the damage of DNA.
There have also been several studies that have associated cell phone radiation with such health problems as fatigue, insomnia, headaches, and memory lapses. A number of researchers also said that children who are already using cellular phones might also be at a heightened risk of developing medical problems relating to the SAR rating of phones. This is because their bodies have yet to reach their full development. Although there have recently been no studies to refute or prove all these claims about the danger of cell phone use, protective cell phone accessories are still being manufactured by a number of enterprising companies. These are said to protect consumers from the harmful effects of mobile phone radiation.
While there have already been a great number of cell phone accessories that are meant to fight the effects of cell phone radiation, few of them have been proven to be effective. In fact, there were even those that were subjected to some complaints before the Federal Trade Commission or FTC. The main problem of these accessories is that they are placed on the earpiece of the cellular phone. This is even when the electromagnetic energy that they are meant to combat came from the antenna and other internal structures inside the phone. Despite this, there are still a lot of people who trust that they can alleviate the possible dangers relating to the SAR rating of cell phones can bring to the body. As such, they still continue to buy the accessories that are available in the market.
There are also other people who just follow the recommendations made by FTC when it comes to protecting themselves from the harmful effects of cell phone radiation. Instead of buying protective cell phone radiation accessories, they limit the use of their mobile phones to short conversations. There are also others that use hands-free headset, while others refrain from using their mobile phones when they are in areas that are known for having poor signals – where signal strength from the phone might be boosted. There are also others who stick to sending text messages instead of calling the persons they want to talk to. Because of their fear of the potential risks relating to the SAR rating of cell phones can bring to their health, there are also people who are trying to completely eliminate the use of mobile phones in their daily lives. For people who could not live their busy lives without using mobile phone, precautionary measures are what they could do to safeguard themselves.
